Anche God Save The QueenIl 27 luglio, la cerimonia di apertura delle Olimpiadi 2012 ad Hyde Park sarà un trionfo del made in England, a partire dalla musica.
Oltre alle performance live di Duran Duran, Snow Patrol, Stereophonics e Paolo Nutini è previsto un dj set di Underworld, la coppia di deejay formata da Karl Hyde e Rick Smith.
I due mixeranno la bellezza di 86 canzoni, che hanno reso la musica inglese celebre in tutto il mondo, scelte per l’occasione dal direttore artistico dell’evento, Danny Boyle, 55enne regista di fama mondiale grazie a “Trainspotting” e a “The Millionaire”.
Nella playlist spicca l’irriverente “God Save the Queen” dei Sex Pistols, uscita il 27 maggio 1977, in occasione del Giubileo di argento della Regina Elisabetta II, che all’epoca venne bandita dalle radio e cancellata dai programmi della BBC, per il testo altamente offensivo nei confronti della monarca.
E poi, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Oasis, Amy Winehouse, Queen, Adele, Coldpaly e Muse, solo per citarne alcuni.
Il gruppo di Matt Bellamy ha composto “Survival”, la colonna sonora ufficiale di Londra 2012, che accompagnerà l’ingresso degli atleti negli stadi e che sicuramente sarà trasmessa anche durante l’opening della manifestazione.
Tra gli artisti snobbati, le Spice Girls, Robbie Williams, Rod Stewart, Shirley Bassey, Cheryl Cole, i Take That, Elton John e Tom Jones, quasi tutti protagonisti del concerto del Giubileo di diamante.
