Nuovo record per Beyoncè
Venerdì sera, con uno show in diretta sulla CBS da Los Angeles, sono state rese note le nomination della 57esima edizione dei Grammy Awards, gli Oscar della musica, in programma l’8 febbraio sempre nella città californiana.
Tra un annuncio e l’altro si sono esibiti due dei più grandi protagonisti della scena musicale internazionale, che non a caso hanno conquistato sei nomination ciascuno: Sam Smith e Pharrell Williams.
In testa con altrettante menzioni, anche Beyoncé, che diventa così l’artista donna più candidata (ben 52 volte) nella storia del Grammy.
I tre artisti sono tutti candidati per il premio più prestigioso della cerimonia, ovvero Album dell’anno: Beyoncè con il suo cd omonimo uscito lo scorso dicembre, che ha venduto solo negli Usa 2 milioni di copie., Smith con In the Lonely Hour e Williams con Girl: i tre dovranno però fare i conti con X di Ed Sheeran e Morning Phase di Beck.
A contendersi il grammofono dorato per Record of the Year, Taylor Swift con Shake It Off, Meghan Trainor con All About That Bass, Iggy Azalea con Fancy, Sia con Chandelier e appunto Sam Smith con Stay with me.
Per la categoria Song of the Year troviamo più o meno gli stessi artisti, tranne che per Take Me To Church di Hozier al posto del successo della Azalea.
La colonna sonora del film Disney Frozen, con oltre 3,5 milioni di copie, è l’album più venduto dell’anno negli Stati Uniti, ed è in gara nella sezione dedicata alla musica scritta per cinema e tv.
