Il trionfo dei Daft Punk
Inizio ad alto tasso erotico per i Grammy Awards 2014: il sipario della 56esima edizione della serata, si alza su Beyoncé, seduta su una sedia da cabaret e con un body succinto, che intona “Drunk in love”, accompagnata dal marito Jay Z, in una delle loro performance più bollenti ed empatiche.
La kermesse è stata poi impreziosita dalle esibizioni di Lorde, con il live set della sua “Royals”, di Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, John Legend, solo al piano con la sua “All of me”, Pink, Bruno Mars, e il duetto spettacolare tra il pianista Lang Lang e i Metallica.
Tra le performance più attese, senza dubbio la reunion degli ex Beatles: Paul McCartney e Ringo Starr hanno cantato assieme, esattamente 50 anni dopo che i Fab Four fecero il loro debutto negli Stati Uniti durante il The Ed Sullivan Show dando il via alla Beatlesmania a stelle e strisce.
Il live più riuscito, è stato invece quello dei Daft Punk, che si sono presentati ai Grammy con i loro futuristici elmetti e hanno trasformato lo Staples Center di Los Angeles in una discoteca con un medley di Get Lucky e Freak out, accompagnati niente meno che da Pharrell Williams e Stevie Wonder,
Uno dei momenti che rimarrà nella storia dei Grammy è stata la celebrazione di 33 matrimoni tra coppie etero e omosessuali officiata da Queen Latifah sulle note di “Same Love” di Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, e poi su quelle di “Open Your Heart” di Madonna.
E ora passiamo ai premi.
Il 2013 è stato senza dubbio l’anno dei Daft Punk e la cerimonia dei Grammy non poteva che confermarlo: il duo francese ha vinto i premi per il miglior album dell’anno (“Random Access Memories”), per la miglior registrazione (“Get Lucky”) e come miglior duo pop e miglior album nella categoria “dance/elettronica”.
Paul McCartney e gli ex Nirvana (Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic e Pat Smear) hanno vinto nella categoria miglior canzone rock, mentre “Royals” di Lorde è la miglior canzone dell’anno.
Jay Z e Justin Timberlake, nonostante le numerose nomination, si sono accontentati del grammofono d’oro per la migliore collaborazione tra rap e cantante, con “Holy Grail”.
Altri trionfatori della serata, Macklemore e Ryan Lewis vincitori degli award come Best New Artist, Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song e Best Rap Performance.
