A New York gli Oscar del teatroSe il cinema ha gli Oscar, la tv gli Emmy, il teatro senza dubbio i Tony Awards.
Domenica in diretta dalla Radio City Hall di New York si è tenuta la cerimonia di premiazione del meglio della stagione teatrale americana.
Ieri sera una parata di stelle è accorsa nella Grande Mela per i Tony Awards 2015, gli Oscar del Teatro internazionale giunti alla sua 69esima edizione.
I premi, trasmessi in diretta tv dalla CBS sono assegnati da una giuria di circa 700 esperti e suddivisi in 24 diverse categorie; la serata è da sempre caratterizzata da numerose esibizioni tratte dai musical e dagli spettacoli candidati.
Se l’anno scorso è toccato a Hugh Jackman, per il 2015 l’evento è stato condotto dagli attori Kristin Chenoweth e Alan Cumming.
Trionfatori della serata, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (Lo strano casso del cane ucciso a mezzanotte), l’opera teatrale tratta dall’omonimo libro di Mark Haddon e il musical Fun Home, tratto dalla graphic novel della fumettista Alison Bechdel, che hanno conquistato entrambi cinque statuette.
Kelli O’Hara è stata premiata come Miglior attrice in un musical per The King And I, mentre il corrispettivo maschile è andato a Michael Cerveris sempre per Fun Home.
Per quanto riguarda le migliori interpretazioni attoriali in un’opera teatrale, invece, sono stati omaggiati Alex Sharp per The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, e Helen Mirren per la sua Regina Elisabetta in The Audience.
La 69enne aveva già vinto l’Oscar nel 2007 per The Queen, dove interpretava magistralmente Sua Maestà.
“Sua Altezza l’hai fatto (hai vinto) ancora!” ha detto la Mirren ritirando il prestigioso premio dal palco della Radio City Hall.
Olre a Helen, presenti alla serata tantissime stelle hollywoodiane attualmente impegnate a teatro: Bradley Cooper, protagonista di The Elephant Man, Carey Mulligan star della piece Skylight e Vanessa Hudgens che a Broadway veste i panni di Gigi.
